As the Youth Network Officer, you will lead nature recovery projects across the West of England and South Wales.

You’ll inspire people aged 18–30 to get involved in rewilding, delivering practical conservation work like tree planting and habitat creation while building a diverse community of young environmental stewards.

What it will involve?
This 4-day-a-week role combines remote planning with regular travel to sites in Bath, Monmouthshire, Somerset, and North Devon. You will organize educational events, lead volunteer groups, and manage digital outreach to make nature recovery accessible to everyone.

Some of the tasks you might be doing include:

  • Leading practical conservation activities like tree planting and pond creation

  • Organizing and running youth volunteer days and educational workshops

  • Mentoring "Wild Stewards" to develop their leadership and ecological skills

  • Reaching out to underrepresented communities to ensure nature is inclusive

  • Creating engaging social media content for Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp

Is this role right for me?
You might enjoy this role if you are a social, motivated person who loves nature and wants to help other young people protect it. If you enjoy variety, take initiative, and feel comfortable chatting with new people in the great outdoors, this hands-on career step is for you.

What skills will I use?

  • Community Engagement: Building inclusive networks for young people in nature

  • Practical Conservation: Learning habitat creation, tree planting, and species reintroduction

  • Event Management: Planning logistics and workshops for large volunteer groups

  • Mentoring & Leadership: Supporting peers to develop their own environmental skills

  • Digital Communication: Creating exciting social media content to grow the movement

How will I be helping protect our environment?
You will be a driving force in Youngwilders’ mission to restore 210+ acres of land and counting. By facilitating youth-led rewilding projects, you are directly increasing biodiversity, creating new habitats, and ensuring the next generation has the skills and agency to lead the UK’s nature recovery movement.

What’s great about working here
Youngwilders is a vibrant, youth-led organisation where your ideas truly matter. You’ll be part of a supportive team that prioritises inclusion and professional growth, offering training in first aid, safeguarding, and ecology. It’s a rewarding, creative environment where you can see the literal fruits of your labour.

Where could this role take me?
This role provides a deep foundation in both the practical and social sides of the environmental sector. You could progress into professional rewilding, ecological consultancy, youth work, or project management.
